W: WCC fares well in sectional competition

The West
Central Conference had a strong day during sectional competition Saturday. The
effort was headed by an outstanding performance by Cascade in the Avon
Sectional. The Cadets eight wrestlers to regional competition and crowned three
individual weight class champions. Greencastle, in the same field, advanced
seven grapplers but laid claim to no champions.

 

North
Putnam, Cloverdale, and South Putnam were also in the Avon field. Each school
captured one individual championship. North Putnam advance three, Cloverdale
two, and South Putnam one to regional bouts.

 

Speedway
competed at Decatur Central where the Sparkplugs advanced four to the regional
level. Monrovia was in Mooresville and the Bulldogs pushed two individuals into
next week’s competition.

Greencastle claims WCC Wrestling Tournament crown

Greencastle was able to hold off Cascade to win the WCC Wrestling Tournament last week.  Cascade placed first in five different weight classes, but Greencastle had a stronger overall performance with one first place finish and six second place finishes.  The Tiger Cubs were led by a first place finish in the 171 weight class from Jesse Ford.  Below are the final standings and individual results.
