LIZTON — South Putnam got a look at possible sectional opponent Tri-West Monday evening, falling 62-48.
South Putnam overcame a 21-point first quarter by the Bruins and roared back to force Tri-West to fight for the win.
The Bruins received a big game out of senior Jesse Jansen and junior
Sam Ricks. Jansen and Ricks scored 22 and 21 respectively and accounted
for nearly 70 percent of Tri-West’s points.
Not to be outdone, South Putnam’s Oceaia Boetjer threw in 16
points, with freshman Sarah Burnham adding 12 of her own. Brooke
Boetjer scored seven, Kelsey Searles six, Jessica Thompson four and
Jenny Thompson three in the Eagles’ loss.
The Eagles cut a 10-point halftime lead and were down only three, 44-41, after the third quarter.
The Eagles were outscored in the final period 18-7 as the Bruins pulled away.
South Putnam will host North Putnam Friday at 6 p.m.
